MAY 2018

A successful Club AGM was held on Sunday 27th May

The majority of the committee still stand. Our new Junior Convenor will be Wendy Filip whose husband and children play at the club. Our new treasurer is Patcharin Wattanawong who also has daughters playing at the club. Tania Morgun has stepped down from the committee.

A special presentation was made to John Roughan having been nominated for life membership by the Russell Parkinson and the management committee. There was a unanimous approval and a big round of applause. John has been a member of the management committee for some 15 years or so and has served 5 terms as President as well as Secretary, Membership Secretary and Vice President. John has worked tirelessly for the club, run tournaments, manages the bar and is a stalwart of weekend social play. Life Membership is granted to members in recognition of special service to the club and John’s efforts over the last 15 years are exceptional and warrant recognition.

Special thanks go to our hard working committee, especially Ross Anderson who has done another sterling job as Club President. Also big thanks to Jin Yoo with organising our Club Champs this year.

Club Updates

Club Champs:
The finals day was rained off and will now be held the second weekend of June weather permitting. The draw and results so far are displayed on the club room windows.

New Nets
: You may have noticed we have put new nets up. The new net on Court 4 will go up shortly as we had to order new poles for Court 4 first and these have now arrived.

Astro Turf Courts:
The committee is shortly arranging to have Tiger Turf come and groom the courts. With all the rain over recent months it has been brought to our attention that moss is starting to build up. We apologize that this has not been done sooner.

It is the committees’ intention to apply for a grant to have courts 1 and 2 replaced within the next year.

Court Lights:
John Roughan is in the process of getting quotes to have the all the lights bulbs replaced and the downward facing light on court 6 repositioned. In the meantime, please remember to turn lights off when courts not in use.

A big thank you to you all for making our club a great place to play tennis on the North Shore.
