CAMPBELLS BAY MEN’S vs NGATARINGA – FRIDAY 17^TH FEBRUARY

For those of you who were fortunate enough to be at the club on Friday night were treated to a desert of the finest tennis. Everyone gave it their all and the intensity was as good as any Wimbledon Final.

The highlight was both doubles. Adam and Mark held their nerve to win a very tight enthralling match 6-3, 7-5. And as the score line suggests it could have gone either way but when the pressure was on they brought the heat! The Fanguna Brothers entertained the crowds with some exhibition tennis not seen before at the club before. They play with such passion and love for the game that you don’t know whose winning. The Bros went down 2-6, 7-5,10-7.

Mark Nielsen continues his winning streak at number 2 with a hard fought win over Rudi Statkus and Adam battling a ham-string strain went down to Giles de Gouy, who he beat last time. Adrian Lagman at just 15 looked a lot more comfortable in his match and is starting to hold his own at this level. His opponent Samuel Triboulet a coach from France plays a mix of power and clay court guile, gave a lesson in “French Finesse” winning 6-1, 6-4. Semisi Fungana sadly went down in his singles 7-6, 6-4, there were tipping points and switches in momentum throughout the slug fest. Next time the Tennis Gods will smile on Semisi who always brings a smile to the court whenever he plays!

There were no losers on Friday night, just some numbers Ngataringa 4 Campbells 2.
