CLUB NEWS

The newly elected committee is off to a flying start, meeting twice this month to get to grips with the management systems and prepare for next season. The committee is proving to have a good mix of experience and new blood, and a valuable balance of representation of all sections of the club.

We have four from the previous committee (Liz Brooks, Craig Burrows, Marijke Knoester and me), three additional midweek ladies (Rossana McNaughten, Sharon Taylor, Weibke Gailer), another senior, Deece Guisinger, and five parents of junior/intermediate players: Jo Dalton, Tim Ibbotson, Anthony McNaughten, Kate Price and Lynda Wiseman.

We are going to keep you in touch through our newly designed website (campbellsbaytennis.org.nz) as well as by email and notices on this board, where minutes of our meetings will be posted.

We hope to have a fully online enrolment system set up for the start of next season. You will be able to register and pay subscriptions entirely through the website, though printed forms will still be available at the club and cheques will be accepted.

We hope to develop an online system for booking courts too. Deece has begun investigating how it will be done.

We have started preparations for negotiating a new coaching contract with Graeme and Adam as Thompson Tennis. The existing contract with Graeme expires at the end of August. I want to record my personal appreciation of the contribution Graeme and Adam are making to the life of the club and I’m confident it can continue.

I also want to record my debt to our immediate past-president, Jono Clark-Howard, who brought the club into the digital era, made it the champion club on the Shore and contributed much more than I have space to mention. With the systems he set up, we are in good shape for the future.
