MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS
Greetings to New Zealand's best tennis
community. I trust the festive season will live up to its name and as
the countdown to Christmas begins (only 7 more sleeps!); you will be
blessed. The tennis year has got off to a hectic start with all areas
of the club functioning well.
Courts five and six were resurfaced
in-time the start of inter-club. Our selectors managed to get over
fifty teams selected across juniors, seniors and midweek ladies. Well
done to all the selectors.
Our coaches are competing with our mid
week ladies to see who can be the brightest dressed in the club (have
you seen their shirts!) and they have rolled out new programs for
both our Juniors and Seniors. The hard work they put in the off
season appears to paying dividends with many happy customers. Our
midweek ladies have been all smiles and still serve the best food at
the many functions. Our mid week ladies got the Xmas season started
with a well attended event at the beginning of December. The junior
and senior event took place this weekend and were very happy
occasions. Fiona and her merry team of helpers did a great job and it
was the well attended. Check out the pics here

Your committee has been hard at work
and I would like to thank them for the efforts. Like Santa's elves;
they are the unsung heroes who put in many hours to ensure we maintain
the best club on the shore. One of the many projects they have
completed is the upgrading of our website. Over the next couple of months
more content will be added as we utilise our
website,(http://www.campbellsbaytennis.org.nz/)
to showcase our club to the world. So give it whizz (especially the gallery).
Please also provide feedback for your committee members as it would
be much appreciated.
Recently; the committee have been
notified that certain members of our community have objections to any
alcohol been served at the club without a liquor license. We have no
desire to transgress the law and in order to be compliant with
council and national regulations; we are not allowed to serve any
alcohol, including bring your own, going forward. We have always
promoted the safe use of alcohol and wish to continue to do so.
We have recently passed the first
hurdle in a multistage process to obtain a liquor license with our land
lord (Auckland Council) granting us permission to proceed.
This took many months as it was further complicated by the
establishment of the super city. As you can imagine there are many
more hurdles to overcome. We will also be applying for a temporary
license for the Chelsea Cup events and keep you updated of the
application progress. If you have any any enquiries please feel free
to contact your committee members.
This year our community has endured
many hardships through sickness and grief for those who have departed
us. Our thoughts and love are with their families through this
festive season.
On a lighter note I hope, like me, you
have been really good year and Santa gives what you deserve! See you
next year!
Regards
Jonathan Clark-Howard
